Zhejiang Chance & Union — www.chance-union.com | family-owned · custom fastening solutions
C360 / C385 brass alloys
M2 – M24 diameter range
300 – 450 MPa tensile strength
-40 to 120°C service range

Product Overview

Brass screw nuts are precision-machined from free-cutting brass alloys C36000 and C38500. Produced through cold forming and thread tapping per DIN 934 and ISO 4032 standards. Available in hex, wing, cap, and lock nut configurations. The natural corrosion resistance of brass, combined with its electrical conductivity and non-sparking properties, makes these nuts suitable for plumbing, electrical, and general industrial applications. Passivation and anti-tarnish treatments are available upon request.

Key Features

  • Corrosion resistance in water and mild chemical environments.
  • Good electrical conductivity for grounding applications.
  • Non-sparking properties for hazardous environments.
  • Available in multiple styles and thread pitches.
  • Suitable for decorative and functional applications.

Installation guidance

Use the formula T = K × d × F to determine tightening torque (K = nut factor, d = nominal diameter, F = preload). For brass nuts, lubricated threads (K ≈ 0.14–0.17) require lower torque than dry threads (K ≈ 0.22–0.26). Avoid over-torquing to prevent thread stripping. For assembly with stainless steel bolts, apply anti-seize compound to prevent galling and seizing.

Frequently Asked Questions

C36000 is free-cutting brass with excellent machinability, ideal for high-volume production. C38500 is architectural brass with slightly lower lead content, offering better corrosion resistance and a more uniform appearance for decorative applications.
Brass offers moderate corrosion resistance in outdoor and freshwater environments. For marine or high-salt exposure, tin-plated or nickel-plated finishes are recommended. For severe chloride exposure, consider silicon bronze or stainless steel alternatives.
Yes, brass nuts are commonly used with stainless steel bolts. However, apply anti-seize compound to prevent galling and seizing, especially in high-temperature or high-torque applications. The dissimilar metals are galvanically compatible in most environments.
Bright finish (standard) provides a clean appearance. Tinning improves solderability and corrosion resistance. Nickel-plating enhances wear resistance and provides a decorative finish. Anti-tarnish lacquer prevents tarnishing in humid environments.
Yes. Chance & Union supports custom nut configurations including non-standard diameters, special thread forms, and unique head styles such as wing, cap, and slotted nuts. Tooling modifications are available for volume production.

Production & Customization

Chance & Union utilizes CNC machining and cold forming processes to produce brass screw nuts in both standard and custom dimensions. We offer material selection support, prototype development, and high-volume production with full quality control per ISO 9001. Custom finishes, special hardness levels, and non-standard nut geometries are available. Our engineering team can assist with design modifications for specific assembly requirements.

Storage & Handling

  • Store in a clean, dry area with relative humidity below 50% to prevent tarnishing.
  • Avoid contact with steel tools or acidic materials to prevent galvanic corrosion.
  • Use plastic or coated containers; separate by grade, size, and finish.
  • Implement FIFO rotation; recommended shelf life up to 24 months in original packaging.
  • Inspect for discoloration or oxide spots before use; clean with a non-abrasive cloth if necessary.
